Mia grew up in Milford, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in 2003 with a B.S. in Philosophy. She has also completed graduate level course work in Kinesiology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology.

Mia’s athletic background is rooted in endurance events. She began participating in running events during her college years. After completing several marathons, she decided to try her hand at the sport of triathlon. True to her exuberant, “go-for-it!” form, the first triathlon she signed up for was Ironman Canada. In four years of elite triathlon competition, Mia has completed four Ironman distance races, with two age-group finishes in the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Mia has been certified by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer since 2002. Mia is also STOTT pilates trained in both mat and reformer disciplines. General aerobic fitness and weight training are two of Mia’s favorite things.
