Elesa first started teaching pilates in 2000, after completing Stott Pilates matwork and reformer training with Rise Kearns in Fairfield, Iowa. She has been teaching Pilates at the Studio since its opening in 2002.
Elesa believes that the key to successful body transformation lies in the brain-body connection, and her classes focus on training this way. In her class, you will learn the correct anatomical terms for the muscle groups you’re working, how to best engage them, and the tricks that mean the difference between getting an hour of exercise and getting results.
Elesa has experienced many different levels of fitness and fitness challenges. She has completed nine marathons (including two Boston Marathons), has done extensive backcountry hiking and snowboarding (she used to own a snowboard shop in Park City, Utah). She also has a renewed empathy for those attempting or struggling with weight loss after gaining (and losing) more than 70 pounds with her second daughter.
Elesa has her Master’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Iowa. She currently works as a research assistant for the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Elesa has taught group exercise for 12 years, and has worked as a personal trainer since 1998. Elesa has also taught prenatal yoga and natural childbirthing classes at The Studio.
