Bodywork at the Studio

There is a lot of literature indicating that bodywork is one of the earliest remedial practices for relief of pain and for the restoration of healthy body functions. Massage is a natural and instinctive method by which aches and pains can be soothed away while bringing relief from nervous tension and fatigue. We not only hold physical stress in our body's structures, but also emotional and mental stress as well. Through bodywork and breath work you begin to release all types of stress in the body. This is how massage begins to balance your entire being: mind, body, and soul. Our massage therapists dedicate themselves to helping you achieve the most beneficial therapy during each of your massage sessions. Your well-being is your most precious asset. Preserve, strengthen, and renew it with massage therapy.
The following forms of massage are offered at the Studio:
This traditional relaxation massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology. It uses draping techniques as the client is asked to undress to their own level of comfort. Lotion or oil is applied by the therapist using slow or vigorous movements with intentions of soothing sore muscles and releasing tension held in the body.
The basic philosophy comes from traditional Chinese medical theory. Finger pressure is applied through clothing to strategic points along the meridian path of the body. By applying pressure to the points, the natural recuperative functions of the body are stimulated, toxins are dispersed, muscles are relaxed, circulation of blood and lymph are improved, energy is released or balanced, and the entire body is revitalized.
This method of massage is designed to prepare an athlete for peak performance! It aids in the body's regenerative and restorative capacities following a rigorous workout or competition. Some movements break down lesions and adhesions or reduce fatigue found in muscle tissue. This massage is great for athletes of all types wanting to keep muscles strong and supple. Sports massage generally follows the Swedish system, with variations of movements or pressure.
More than just a “good foot rub.” There are reflex points found on the hands and feet that correspond to various body parts (organs, glands, muscles). Massaging these points helps balance out the function of these areas, either relaxing or stimulating as needed. Reflexology can be used for specific problems.
